- About Me:
- I was born in San Francisco, California. I grew up in Southern California, practically on the beach. I grew up loving the ocean. Whenever I feel blue, I go to the ocean, and everything is better. The beauty, the smell, the peace of the sea, is part of who I am. I have 3 brothers, who all have families. I have 2 grown children from my first husband. My daughter, Courtney is 20 and my son, Dustin is 23. They grew up so fast. They are my life. I am remarried to a wonderful man, Willie. We dated for 4 years and were married on 9/2/2006. He loves the Lord, and he loves me. I am truly blessed. I met Starla and Wanda when I was 18. Starla had her "Uncle Elvis" call me for my 19th birthday. Elvis and I talked for over an hour that first phone call and became very close, loving friends until the day he went to Heaven. He is always with me. I have so many wonderful memories of my time with Elvis and I have been sharing them slowly on the ELC website. Maia started a page for me through Wanda's page. My mom Shirely's story, and my story, are in Wanda's book "We Remember, Elvis". I love Wanda and Starla. I am grateful to them for blessing me with the chance to know Elvis. I thank God for sharing them and Elvis with me. Elvis was a good friend to my beautiful mom, too. She also is in Heaven, and I'm sure that she and Elvis are together, watching over me, telling jokes, laughing and singing, and causing a little trouble. I love to draw cartoons and paint with oils. I write poetry and have had some published. I love all animals. I have a puppy, 9 months old. He is a white German Shepherd Mix named Casper. I love dolphins. My husband and I have been platinum members at Sea World for the last 5 years. I went swimming with the dolphins a couple of years ago & had so much fun. I have had a wonderful life so far, and I still have lots of living to do and memories to make.
- My Spiritual Path and Elvis' influence upon it:
- I went to Chrisitan schools until I was in high school. I grew up fearing God, and fearing dying. I would fall asleep with my hand on my heart, to make sure it was still beating and I was still alive. I was told all the time that Jesus was returning in the next 5 years and the world would be over. I wanted to grow up and fall in love and get married and have kids. I never wanted to be separated from my mom. I was scared. Elvis helped me to learn that God is a loving God. He kept a Bible by his bed and often read scriptures to me. He loved Gospel music, and I loved listening to his Gospel music. I believe he wished he could have been a minister. Elvis was a wonderful, loving, giving man. He cared about everyone. If there was a way for him to help, he would do it. He was honest. He shared his thoughts about dying with me, and he was not afraid. He told me he would always be with me, that he would talk to me with his heart, late at night, when it was quiet. He does. My husband also love the Lord. I know the Lord loves me. I am no longer afraid.
