Sharing in Spirit, Elvis-Style

Divine Intervention or What?

Watching videos and listening to music from Elvis has always touched the deepest part of my soul and was the music that I grew up with. If I have loved the music and words of any singer it has been those of this man. To visit this site as a mature woman I am further inspired by the maxim: I did it my way. Well I have finally figured out how to do life my way. Wow! I think to myself it has taken 53 years to get here, and am I glad that I am here now. I have come to the conclusion that the first half of your life you are born to die, and the second half that you are born to live. The feeling of being born again satisfies a yearning in me that has never been satisfied before, it inspires me to believe more in myself and my purpose and pumps new blood into my heart every day. All may sound a bit out there, but believe me, or believe me not, the gift of presence bears its own essence for others to move with, and generates a shift in time and space that can only be known when you ge there. As I walk in the path of truth I hold my head up high, and I am no longer afraid of the dark. Too Elvis...and all of the other great people who have inspired the world to be a better place, while at the same time living a full life, defined by pain. and glory, heartache and joy, birth and death. We all need to be legends in our own life and keep our hips a swinging like the King. He shocked parents with his swinging hips and inspired a nation at the same time to feel okay about being themselves. We all gotta be proud of doing life our own way, and know that this is the secret to coming out on top at the end of time. Cause our own way is always the right way even when the tide has gone out, and the sun has stopped shining, the light will always return when you create a space to honour all of whom you are. Honour for yourself and honour for every other human being sparks a curious energy which can fill ones heart with joy in an instant. I dare you to play this one forward, and take the risk of releasing all notions of dishonour from your life, and, replacing this dishonour with well wishes for all of the people who you know in this world. Of course you need to start this process with yourself first as you gotta know what honour feels and looks like in your own heart.

Hi Pamela, I am interested in what you have to say, and it is interesting because you and I seem to have done the reverse journey! I started out all independent, maker of my own destiny, and then found that though at the time I had abundant pride in myself, I had massive limitations that my flesh could never overcome alone....

For me, I have found I am not in control, I am not the master of my universe and actually, I have very little control except over my mouth and my thoughts, and even those I can't control to my satisfaction for very long.

But, I will say, as I learn more and listen for Jesus' voice, I am taken back to Job, a man God Himself says and puts out there as a "Blameless and Upright Man."

Hard to find a person "better" than Job... except for perhaps John the Baptist, whom Jesus spoke of in Matthew 11:

"7 As they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? 8 But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. 9 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. 10 For this is he of whom it is written:

‘ Behold, I send My messenger before Your face,
Who will prepare Your way before You.’[b]

11 “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.”

But Pamela, I liken that Job had it right – Job lived for God, not himself. So did John. "He who seeks to save his life will lose it, but he who loses his life for my sake (Jesus speaking here), will save it…"

Good story here to explain what God calls goodness. Would that I can do likewise as Job! “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”:

1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil. 2 And seven sons and three daughters were born to him. 3 Also, his possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East.

4 And his sons would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. 5 So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed[a] God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly.

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan[b] also came among them. 7 And the LORD said to Satan, “From where do you come?”
So Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”
8 Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?”
9 So Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”
12 And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.”
So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

13 Now there was a day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house; 14 and a messenger came to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them, 15 when the Sabeans[c] raided them and took them away—indeed they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
16 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
17 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels and took them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
18 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house, 19 and suddenly a great wind came from across[d] the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people, and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
20 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said:

“ Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
And naked shall I return there.
The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away;
Blessed be the name of the LORD.”
22 In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.”

That is getting to the highest place for a human, Pamela. Knowing our place, not fooling ourselves with our own "power" Yet Job and John were powerful in Christ!

Blessings,

Sonya
