My Spiritual Path and Elvis' influence upon it:
I have always been more into the spirtual aspects of life and at times through the years it has been tough to be ridiculed and laughed at by friends and family. The 1st time I looked into Elvis eyes I recognized that he was traveling somewhat on the same path, looking and searching for truth and understanding of life, the reason or purpose .His light still shines so bright

Untill We Meet again

Thirty years ago at Indianapolis's Market Square Arena an exhausted, disillusioned and sick Elvis Presley stepped onto a stage for the final time. He would be backed by his James Burton led TCB band, a band often described as one of the greatest live bands ever assembled, and he would perform 21 songs fr… Continue

Wanda ,That eagle story is one of the most glaring examples of how wonderful is the spirit that is in the so called wildlife on this earth. That guy Jeff is a part of the, Sarvey Wildlife Center, and they take in and help injured or abandoned wildlife here is a link to the site if youre interested. There are other stories some sad,but all inspiring, all there are very close with nature and spirit. I would have posted a link but wasn't sure if anyone would be interested . Loveya , Gayle

Hi Wanda, Thank, I knew he was saying goodbye and yes a lot of people there also knew it although some were oblivious to anything other than being in his presence. I had the oporunity to see a coulple of that last tour Richmond and North Carolina, in the physical and now I can say because being on here and knowing that others here will understand and believe that I also was there for there last 3 in obes. and he saw me and told me that he was so tired but had to do this and those that knew would understand . At the time I didn't know what was happening being young and not knowin that much about things like that back then I really thought I had dreamed it untill I saw the CBS special and believe I was floored.but still thinking maybe had seen it before only the whole thing not as a tribute.I never said anything to anyone other than my husband at the time ,that I had seen Elvis concert and that it was his last,,this was sometime in June or July and He kind of looked at me weird. Then when it happened he kind of got a little weery of me as he was a strict fundemantist Baptist preacher.Needless to say he didn't have any problems with a divorce, lol, I can laugh now but wasn't funny at the time.In my family and acquaintances I was in league with Satan or bewitched. I knew I was different than most people and that is what I recognized in Elvis the 1st time I heard his voice and looked in his eyes, that he didn't have anyone around family or friend that understood. I followed his life from beginning to end ,I never was crazy fanatical knew he was only human but very special one ,,just felt as many do a connection spiritually,,Yes he would have definately looked better if he had went on stage just as he was, he looked so much better in the sweatsuit ,and people would have loved it. I know I would just for once leave off the silly frills and he would have seen that they really did care about just him . I just was hoping he didn't see any of it,I know he did help edit the 72 on tour. But he in my oppion gave some of his greatest performances in that last year

I think Elvis knew he'd never do another concert when he wound that last one up. I do not think he looked at any of it- he wouldn't have wanted to because he knew he looked bad and the make up job didn't help-in fact he would have looked better without it probably. Anyway, knowing him, he wouldn't have looked-I'm sure he saw the moniters and that probably did it for him. He lay down his pride, his ego, his vanity, everything he had as being Elvis Presley, and went out there as himself, just the guy- no image involved. He spoke the crowd like he talked to his friends, he put on no airs and he did the best he could. I believe he knew it was his last performance and that he'd never step on a stage again- not on this earth. And he gave his best for those who "never let me down, bless their hearts"- his fans, who always came, who cheered him on and sent him love and strength. Those lucky people got to spend some time with the guy behind that image, and from what I've seen on the faces of those near the stage and on camera, they loved him dearly, just as he was. They didn't let him down. wjh

I love that picture above with the eagle Baby, What a sweet bird, she loves her "daddy" very much too. See, even wild animals love, know who cares for them and will often give their life for their care giver. We have eagles around here, see them sometimes. They are beautiful birds and very, very loyal to each other and that one is to her "daddy" too. My best wishes and good health to you sir, and to your baby girl too. So sweet.

Hi Gayle, yeah, I will be glad to skip birthdays from now on! As for Elvis seeing the last film- I doubt he would have wanted to as many of his films he wouldn't watch either...a lot of them he just didn't care to see...he'd get angry he said, and he was so critical of himself too. I do not believe he would have been able to stand seeing any of that last footage. He really didn't want to do it at all, I was so surprised when he did go ahead and let it happen, and he tried to do his best under the circumstances. He hated the make up- they didn't do a good job with it to start with- and I think he'd looked better without it. It was the last gift he could give to his fans, he was I know sorry that he looked as he did, but he couldn't help it, so he just went with what there was left as he put it. And the thing that got to me the most was how much he was just being himself on the footage, not the image, just theman. the way he talked to the people, his atittude, the things he said and did, handing the last scarf so precisely, cermonially and how he presented it and then raised up as if there, it's done!
He had felt better on the tour before the last one, did the New Years Eve show and did great- looked better too, but he knew, in my opinion, that he didn't have much time- that he'd never work again on stage-after that last spring tour... he didn't pack his books, the personal things he always took with him- he had made no effort to get ready to go...no like Elvis who was apt to take certain things every time he went out. I think he knew pretty near the time he had- and was ready to leave here when God called him. He said, "Never want to have to die on stage...in public an' scare every body- just not that way. God ain't gonna be that mean to me- I'll be at home, with my friends an' it'll be fast. What ever happens, it'll be all right." And it was just like he said. Have a great weekend. Hope it's not too hot or wet where ever you are. It's hot here, but we have a breeze every day and that helps. wjh

Hi Gayle, It's so good to hear Hank William's original version of 'Men With Broken Hearts'. I have the lyrics in a frame on the wall in my hallway next to the downstairs toilet. As I explained to Wanda a while ago it may seem like a strange place to display it but my son has a lot of friends coming and 'going' and most have stopped to read it. My friends and family are now familiar with the words now too, and if it makes them think, even a little bit, about how they percieve and treat others then it can only be a good thing. It is a beautiful piece of writing and obviously it meant a lot to Elvis too. Thanks for adding it to your music list!

Warm Easter Greetings to you and yours, Gayle! It is snowing here in Scotland and set to continue all weekend (-4C)! Should be fun for the children rolling their hard boiled eggs down the hill on Easter Sunday.

Hi Gayle, My mother goes to a drumming class where they are learning to do it the Native American way. She has even made her own drum. She says it is a very spiritual experience, the energy build up with the sound and rhythm is massive, so much so that people visiting the hall where the drumming takes place say they can physically feel the force. The drummers themselves say it transports them to other realms. I would love to give it a try but don't have the time just now with looking after family, pets, house, garden, etc. I'll stick to guitar for the moment, I find it very therapeutic as well as fun!
All my best wishes, Marian
