Thank you for your kind comments and your warm welcome. My childhood was full of wonderment. I love the way you called little animals wee beasties. How cute. Even now people bring their injured and sick animals to me. I have never ending stories of all my babies.I Ioved raising our baby raccoons. They were so full of mischief. I had a paperoute as a girl and would take them along with me, one on each shoulder. People would always stop to pet them and ask questions. Both mom and dad loved animals and instilled that love for them in all of us. I adore their innocense.
Dad was a history buff. Instead of reading fairytales to us, he would read true stories of far off places and people. I was riveted. It was amazing going into my father's digs with him. He mostly dealt with American indian artifacts. We found mortors and pessels, which are food grinding tools, arrowheads, spears and even some 2000 year old cloth, which is in the Smithsonian. We had all kinds of antiques. I loved trying to figure out who they belonged to. I would make up stories in my head of very wealthy owning some of these things. I imagined what they looked like, what they wore and what their personalities were like just by holding an old coin, hair comb or maybe an old shoe buckle. I was a strange child. Ha ha! One year my dad bought us a metal detector. We thought we were the richest kids around to have such a treasure. It consumed us. We found some of the most amazing things with it. Diamond rings, jewelry, coins (a 1623 pine tree shilling from the pilgrim days) We found that coin on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, which would make sense that it was of the Pilgrim era. My brother helped the police find a murder weapon buried about 8" in the ground. It was so much fun. We had so much jewelry that it covered our picnic table. My dad sold all of it and bought a car. That's incredible. Boy, would I love to use a metal detector at Graceland. Perhaps I could find Elvis' first wedding ring that he lost.
I haven't been to Graceland yet, but I am now being drawn to go down there. I want to feel him and his mom there. Many nights I lie awake and tour Graceland in my mind. It relaxes me. I know just where everthing is inside. I don't know how I know, but I do. Maybe from seeing pictures. I have been having many Elvis experiences lately and for a woman who wasn't a fan until he came to me in a dream, he sure does come to me a lot. Only another Elvis lover would understand what I mean by that. Did you know Elvis like Wanda did/does? Thank goodness for the wonderful people coming forward with such possitive stories about our beloved Elvis. I am a Capricorn like him, so I understand him well. He was born on the 8th and I was born on the 11th of January. Well, I was born 24 years later than him, but I just know why he was the way he was because we are so much alike. I sure don't have his talent, but I know why he thought and felt the way he did. If you read up on Capricorn people both Elvis and I are true to our sign through and through. I feel so sorry for him because I feel a lot of the same things he did. I become so frustrated reading some of the awful things people did to him, but I don't like conflict either and will do anything to avoid it, just like him. I could honestly make a long list of the simularities between Elvis and myself. That sounds so presumtuous, but I don't mean for it to be.
Oh yes, one other trait he and I share is that once we get to talking it's very hard to shut us up. We Capricorns don't talk often, but when we do, we REALLY do. On that note I am going to stop my blabbering here. I don't want to bore you. I would love to hear more of your stories Marian. I love people's stories. I find them so fascinating. What was it like growing up in Scotland? My husband works for a company based there in Edinburgh. He gets to go there a few times a year. He loves it there. The office over there is near a big castle I think. (not sure)
Thank you so very much for taking the time to say hello. Have a peaceful day.
Laura
